James Joyceの人生と人物像を読みながら着想を得て再考したショートトレンチコートです。

20世紀のモダニズム文学を象徴とする文学者であり詩人です。

彼の代表的技術の一つ『意識の流れ』は、人間の意識が連続的に変化し流動して行くことを表す心理学的概念を文学の表現方法に用いました。

このコートに用いられた、Fabric 34_E “ Lino Tales” という特別な手織の記事は、Season XVIのエクリュ経糸設計を基盤としながら、経糸の一部を生地裏側であえて解放し、ほどかれた思考のように残しています。

織という表現の中に留められた思考の痕跡は、ほどけることなく記憶の断片の様に連なっています。

それはJoyceが言葉によって意識の流れを描いたように、Isabellaは糸と構造によって表現しています。

The James coat is a short trench coat reimagined through reflections on the life and character of James Joyce.

Joyce was one of the defining literary figures and poets of twentieth-century modernism. Among his most influential contributions was the literary technique known as the “stream of consciousness”, which sought to express the continuous and fluid movement of human thought through narrative form.

The special handwoven fabric used for this coat, Fabric 34_E “Lino Tales”, is based on the ecru warp structure developed for Season XVI. Selected warp threads are intentionally released on the reverse side of the cloth, left visible like fragments of unravelled thought.

These traces of thought remain embedded within the weave itself, connected like fragments of memory that continue without unravelling.

Just as Joyce expressed the flow of consciousness through language, Isabella expresses it through thread, structure and cloth.
